Installation Issues

Troubleshooting common problems during installation

Security Warning

When you first install Apple AI, macOS may display a security warning due to Apple's Gatekeeper feature. This is a normal security measure to ensure the app is from a trusted source.

If you see a message saying "Apple AI cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified," follow these steps:

  1. Go to System Settings (or System Preferences) > Privacy & Security
  2. Scroll down to find the message about Apple AI being blocked
  3. Click "Open Anyway" to allow the app to run
  4. Confirm in the dialog that appears

Security Warning

"Apple AI cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified."

DMG Installation Issues

Problem: DMG Won't Mount

If the DMG file won't mount when double-clicked, try these solutions:

  • Restart your Mac and try again
  • Download the DMG file again, as it might be corrupted
  • Try mounting the DMG using Disk Utility: Open Disk Utility > File > Open Disk Image

Problem: App Won't Drag to Applications

If you can't drag the app to your Applications folder:

  • Make sure you have sufficient permissions (you might need administrator access)
  • Check if you have enough disk space in your Applications folder
  • Try copying the app (⌘C) and pasting it (⌘V) in Applications instead of dragging
  • If an older version exists, move it to the Trash first

Privacy & Security Concerns

Apple AI is designed with privacy in mind:

The app simply provides a native interface to web-based AI services

No data is sent to any servers beyond what you directly input to each AI service

All preferences and settings are stored locally on your Mac

macOS Compatibility

macOS Requirements

  • Apple AI works on macOS Monterey (12.0) and later
  • Compatible with both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) and Intel Macs
  • For Intel Macs, the Universal DMG is recommended for best performance

Intel Mac Users

If you're using an Intel Mac and encounter any issues:

  • Ensure Rosetta 2 is installed (macOS will prompt you to install it when needed)
  • Check that you're using the Universal DMG version of Apple AI
  • Update your macOS to the latest available version
  • Allocate more memory to Apple AI in Preferences > Performance if experiencing slowness
